This week I went to pick up my very first gas mask. As I carried the cardboard box home, people on the street stopped to ask me if the war had broken out already. Still unclear on the proper etiquette for joking about biological and chemical warfare, I just smiled and shook my head.

I'm sitting in Ben Gurion Aiport and I'm thinking about narratives, about viewpoints and subjectivity. El Al Airline's new baggage policy is going to start a revolution. Until recently, passengers flying from Israel to the US, or vice versa, could check in two suitcases weighing up to 50 lb. each. As of last week, the baggage allowances have changed. All passengers, regardless of destination, can now only check in one suitcase weighing up to 50 lb.
